We are thrilled to introduce Legacy's new PTA President!

Hi! I’m Jessica Nelson, and I’m honored to serve as this year’s PTA President at Legacy Elementary as we celebrate 30 amazing years of learning and community. I’m a proud mom to three wonderful girls and a dental hygienist with a heart for public health and helping others.

In my free time, I love spending time with my daughters, family, and friends—especially at the pool, in my yard, or with a good podcast playing in the background. I genuinely love the Legacy community and all the people who make it special.

What I want families to know is that the PTA is so much more than planning events — it’s a great way to make new friends, get to know your kids’ teachers and school staff, and help build a stronger, more connected community. I hope more families will consider joining the PTA and helping build an even better, lasting legacy at Legacy. Whether it’s volunteering for one hour during the school year or helping a little more often, many people contributing just a small amount makes a big difference!

I can’t wait for us to make this year unforgettable!

Meet the Candidates – Aspen Peaks School Board Election (Seats 6 & 7)

The American Fork PTA Council, Lehi Free Press, and American Fork Citizen are excited to invite you to a special “Meet the Candidates” event for the 2025 Aspen Peaks School District Board primary election!

When starting a school district, it’s essential that the community actively votes for qualified, thoughtful school board members. These individuals will set the foundation for everything that follows. Their decisions shape nearly every facet of a child’s education—from classroom resources and curriculum to teacher support and school safety—and ultimately impact the health, unity, and future of the entire community.

Strong school boards create strong schools, and strong schools, in turn, create strong communities. Your voice matters—your vote matters. Let’s make sure we start with the right leadership from day one.

The 2025–2026 school year is right around the corner, and it promises to be a truly special one! Legacy Elementary is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and we’re planning a fun year. As we prepare, we are seeking a PTA President to help lead the way. Legacy has a proud history of strong parent involvement, and our PTA has been at the heart of many of our most impactful and memorable events. From coordinating Back to School Night, Read-a-thon, Art Week, Red Ribbon Week, fun assemblies, Teacher Appreciation events, to providing meals during Parent-Teacher Conferences, and organizing Adventure Books and yearbooks, our PTA helps build a culture of connection, service, and celebration. PTA members play a vital role in supporting both student and teacher morale, strengthening home-to-school communication, and organizing events that uplift and enrich the Legacy experience. One of our top goals this year is to complete the fundraising for our new playground—a project that is nearly finished thanks to the dedicated efforts of our PTA and amazing community. Serving as PTA President is a commitment, but with a supportive team, it’s also fun, collaborative, and deeply rewarding. You’ll have the chance to make a lasting difference, build strong friendships, and help shape the next chapter in Legacy’s story. To all the incredible PTA presidents, committee members, and volunteers of the past, thank you. Legacy would not be the wonderful school it is today without you. If you or someone you know would be a fit for this important role, please reach out. I would love to submit your name or their name to the nominating committee. We need you, and we’d love to have you on the team!
